Agencies Providing Hospice Services
Hospice is provided byy a public agency or private organization that has the primary role of providing pain relief and symptom management to terminally ill patients. Medicare has a very generous hospice benefit.
Medicare A pays for hospice when all of the following take place:
- A doctor certifies the patient is terminal.
- The patient chooses hospice care.
- Hospice benefits are received at home or hospice certified facility.
- Care is provided by a Medicare-certified hospice program.
