Our Social Services staff includes a Licensed Independent Social Worker, a Registered Nurse, a Home Delivered Meal Client Assessor and two Medical Escort Drivers.

Transportation

WCCOA provides medical transportation for residents of Wood County age 60 and over. We can help take seniors to medical appointments such as seeing a family doctor, dentist, vision specialist, mental health provider, having X-rays or other tests done, etc.

We offer this service up to 3 times a month,  first come first serve, Monday-Friday between 9 AM and 2:30 PM. Donations are accepted for this service.

Our two drivers, one based at the Rossford site and the other based in Bowling Green, can travel as far south as Findlay and as far north as Toledo/Sylvania.

Minor Home Repair

Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. has a Minor Home Repair Program.

Eligibility for this program is as follows:

  • The person must be over 60 years of age
  • The person must live in Wood County
  • The house or mobile home must be in their name and owner occupied
  • The person must be current on property taxes

Health Screening & Consultations

Blood pressure and finger stick blood sugar monitoring each month at every senior center location.

Cholesterol screening 3 times per year by appointment (full lipid panel.)

Durable Medical Equipment Loan Closet

We have a variety of assistance equipment available for loan to residents of Wood County age 60 or older. Please call our Social Services department at 419-353-5661 or 1-800-367-4935 for current availability and rental information.

There is no charge for the use of this equipment, but we do accept monetary donations.

Friendly Visitor program

Friendly Visitor Program Volunteers Needed! The purpose of the friendly visitors program is to reduce isolation and loneliness in older adults.

Volunteer Requirements: 21 years old, able to commit for 6 months, willingness to complete a background check.

Volunteer Role: Communicate with the senior weekly, spend a minimum of 4 hours/month one-to-one with the senior, provide emotional support, and act as an advocate.

Home Delivered Meals

Homebound residents of Wood County age 60 and up are eligible for our home delivered meal program. We will deliver one hot meal to your door every day Monday – Friday (excluding agency holidays), with an optional two frozen meals for the weekend if necessary.

Home delivered meal clients can choose between two different entrees each day, and we offer a sugar-free dessert option. Suggested donation is $2 per meal.

The Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. offers many programs and activities to help maintain health and wellness in older adults.
